Ways To Support · Directors’ Initiative

The Library Foundation works to raise funds for a variety of initiatives and programs to support the work of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.  To honor the service of Kimber L. Fender, the long-time director of the Library (1999-2018), The Library Foundation has developed a new, focused initiative to support the Library.

The Directors’ Initiative will support the Library’s educational programs and mission for children in our community.  Join us in supporting the following Directors’ Initiative vision!

Sprout Learning Backpacks

This special backpack would be available for families to check-out at their local library and provides tools to promote school readiness.  Each backpack is filled with high-quality early learning materials, books, and activities with easy-to-follow activity guides that make learning fun!

Children’s Library Interactive WePlaySmart Learning Table

To help support on-site educational development and experiences, the Children’s Library Center at the Main Library is seeking a WePlaySmart interactive learning table.  Designed for early childhood learning, the 10 point multi-touch surface captures the movements of little hands actively playing!

Pop-Up Preschool

In early 2018, the Library partnered with the Blue Ash YMCA to host a pilot Pop Up Preschool at its Deer Park Branch.  The eight-week series was designed to directly reach preschoolers who may need extra help with kindergarten readiness preparation. The Library would like to expand this program to support additional offerings at the Deer Park Branch and at other Branches throughout the system.

All donations received by The Library Foundation in support of the Directors’ Initiative will go to support and enhance the above services provided by the Library.
